Biography- Wenxin Mao
Dr. Wenxin Mao is a Senior Lecturer and Director of International Education within the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University. He earned his PhD from Monash University in 2019. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Mao was a Royal Society Newton International Fellow and Senior Research Associate in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge. His distinguished research background also includes an Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) Fellowship and a tenure as a Research Fellow with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science at Monash University.
毛文鑫博士是莫纳什大学化学与生物工程系的高级讲师及国际教育导师。他于2019年在莫纳什大学获得博士学位。在现职之前,毛博士曾担任英国剑桥大学化学工程与生物技术系的英国皇家学会牛顿国际学者及高级研究员。他杰出的研究经历还包括:澳大利亚先进光伏研究中心(ACAP)研究员,以及莫纳什大学澳大利亚研究委员会激子科学卓越研究中心研究员。

PhD OPPORTUNITIES at Monash University

We are looking for motivated and talented PhD students to join our dynamic research team at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia). Our group sits at the intersection of materials chemistry, automated engineering, and advanced physics, aiming to solve some of the biggest challenges in energy and technology.
We are actively recruiting for projects across three core pillars:
(1)Optoelectronic Devices & Applications
The Mission: Translate novel materials advances into real-world technologies.
Focus Areas: Next-generation solar energy conversion, advanced lighting, and high-sensitivity photon sensing & imaging.
(2)utonomous, High-Throughput Fabrication
The Mission: Revolutionize how materials are discovered.
Focus Areas: Developing new hybrid crystalline semiconductors using fully automated, high-throughput fabrication and screening platforms. Speed up discovery, optimize material properties, and enable scalable functionalization for targeted devices.
(3)Multimodal, Correlated Characterization
The Mission: Look deeper into materials than ever before.
Focus Areas: Utilizing advanced spatial-temporal micro-spectroscopic techniques and Synchrotron high-energy characterization methods to reveal mechanistic insights across multiple length scales and build robust structure–property–application relationships.

(2)自主化高通量制备研究使命:革新材料发现的方式。聚焦方向:利用全自动化、高通量制备与筛选平台开发新型杂化晶体半导体,加速材料发现进程,优化材料性能,并实现面向目标器件的可扩展功能化。
(3)多模态关联表征研究使命:比以往更深入地探索材料本质。聚焦方向:运用先进的时空分辨显微光谱技术和同步辐射高能表征方法,在多个长度尺度上揭示材料的机理机制,构建稳健的结构—性能—应用关系。
